After holding discussions with the office bearers of the JKCA and the ground staff at these two venues, Daljeet Singh reached Jammu yesterday evening. At Jammu, the BCCI man had a round of two possible venues for the under-19 four-dayers in November and the Ranji Trophy as also a women’s match at MA Stadium and Hostel ground of the GGM Science College, here. While inspecting the grounds at Jammu, Daljeet Singh was accompanied by the Jammu wing joint secretary, Sunit Sharma. Later talking to Sports & Allied News (SAN), Daljeet Singh said, “wickets in Srinagar are over used while a lot needs to be done in Jammu as for as the wicket and outfield are concerned”. However, he was optimistic about JKCA meeting the laid down standards by putting in some extra efforts. “Jammu and Kashmir is in the corner and the state has suffered a lot during the last 15 years of turmoil and unrest, so they (JKCA) have to do a lot of work with grounds men, workers by way of providing them with latest equipments, training and resources,” he said. When asked about the preparations by Kashmir wing for the under-19 tournament starting from September 25, Daljeet said, “wicket at Kashmir University are in good shape whereas at the Sher-e-Kashmir Cricket Stadium the ground men are doing a good job”.
