| SS protests against JDA for undue favoritism | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Sep 20 Accusing JDA for giving its undue favoritism towards the Chief Minister’s relatives in allotment of a shop at Bahu Plaza shopping complex, Shiv Sena activists organized a protest demonstration here today. On this occasion, Sena activists burnt the effigy of the JDA Chairman and raised slogans against him. The protestors accused the Chairman for floating all the basic norms of allotment to facilitate the kith and kin and provide them undue facilities benefits at the cost of public. The party activists took out a protest rally from Rani Pak which culminated at City chowk after passing through several bazaars in the old city. Addressing the protestors, the party General Secretary Ashok Gupta said that JDA had issued an advertisement on February 5,2005 for allotment of Shops and Hall at Bahu Plaza on the basis of first come first serve basis. Subsequently the people deposited the money and on February 10,2005 the JDA withdrew the advertisement and ordered open auction of the complex. To the dismay of the applicants, the JDA clandestinely allotted the Hall-cum shop to Sajjad Ahmed resident of Bathindi, brother of CM Ghulam Nabi Azad, Gupta This allotment was made to him in the 64th Board of Director’s meeting of the JDA held on August 3 last which was chaired by the Minister for Housing and Urban Development Qazi Mohammed Afzal, Gupta alleged. He urged the Chief Minister to look into this matter and also demanded stern action against such persons indulging in unlawful practices.
