| Not to fall prey to evil designs of anti-national elements: Babu Singh | | Charak Unfurls National flag at Rajouri | | EARLY TIMES REPORTER POONCH AUG-16:
Minister of State for Rural Development Babu Singh has called upon the people to maintain communal amity and mutal brotherhood and not to fall prey to the evil designs of some anti-national and anti-social elements who are spreading canards to create wedge between different communities and regions in the State. He was addressing Independence Day function here yesterday after hoisting the national flag and taking salute at the impressive march past from the contingents of JKP, CRPF, NCC and students from different schools of the District. Babu Singh dwelt at length about the achievements registered by the state in different spheres under the coalition dispensation and said that it goes to the credit of the Congress led coalition government to implement the Wazir Commission recommendations, set up Finance and Delimitation Commissions. Referring to the Government's resolve to root out corruption from the State, the Minister said that a beginning has been made in this connection and 10 officers involved in various corruption cases have been shown the door adding that similar action would be taken against those found involved in the scams. He sought people's cooperation to make this drive of the government a success. G M Jan, Bashir Ahmed Naz legislators, District Development Commissioner and other senior police, civil and army officers were also present. A similar function was held at Rajouri amidst tight security where Minister of State for Roads and Buildings, Gulchain Singh Charak unfurled the national flag and took salute at a combined march past. Besides local legislators, senior civil, police and Army officials, the function was attended by a large number of people including hundreds of school children. Addressing at the function Charak warned that corruption in any form would not be tolerated in the administration and those found guilty would have to face serious action including dismissal from service. He said that the coalition regime led by Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad has voewed to eradicate the menace of corruption from the state and sought people's cooperation in achieving the desired results. Charak also paid rich tributes to the freedom fighters and said that because of their sacrifices the country achieved Independence. A colourful cultural programme depicting the rich cultural heritage of the state was presented by the school children on the occasion. Later, the Minister gave away prizes among the participating students.
