Dalits demand amendment in SRO 294

With the reduction of reservation quota form 8% to 4% is a great injustice with the people of Dalit community who since centuries have suffered a lot.
Vijay Lochan Chairman All J&K Dalit Mahasabha in a press meet here said, no action has been taken by the coalition government for amendment of SRO 294. He said a memorandum in this regard was submitted to then Chief Minister Mufti Mohd. Syeed and Speaker Tara Chand, but till no action has been taken.
He said it was again February 2006another memorandum was submitted to present Chief Minister. He said by these actions govt. has deprived Dalit community from their constitutional rights. He said, if no action is taken in Dalits favour community will be forced to launch agitation.
Present during the press meet were Vijay Mangotra, Bishan Dass Bhagat, Simer Dass, Ashok Lalotra, Babu Kul Ram and Thakur Dass.
