| Batras declare Rs 10 Crore, IT says not enough | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu|Sep 20 After marathon raids by the sleuths of Income Tax department, the normal activity at hospital, business centers and other facilities owned by the Batra group though today returned to almost normal but the clouds still hovered over the powerful owners. After more than 18 hours of simultaneous raids at different facilities owned by the Batras, the group owners today declared some unaccounted amount on which the tax had been awaited. However, the Taxmen did not go by the Batra story on the evasion and preferred to strictly scrutinize the records and also call for other details for complete evaluation. Sources said that after unexpected raids which found the records unkempt, the Batra group declared Rs 10 crores as unaccounted worth and offered the Income Tax department to levy tax on the same. Sources further informed that the IT officials did not agree at the Rs 10 crore stories and therefore carried ahead with scrutiny of the records. It was in the middle of last night that the raids came to an end which had continued throughout Wednesday. The raids which erupted simultaneously found huge irregularities at almost all facilities owned by the Batras including the Acharya Shri Chander College of Medical Sciences, The Toyota showroom and Batra pumps etc. Sources said that not only these business places, the raids were also conducted at the Gandhi Nagar residence of the Batras.
