| Unprecedented security keeps people away from ID celebrations | | | EARLY TIMES REPORTER

The people of Reasi and its adjoining areas, especially the children, had a tough time to reach the Stadium, the venue for the celebrations of the Independence Day function, due to unprecedented security arrangements made by the authorities.
Majority of the people had to go back without attending the function, as they were not allowed to move to the venue without frisking at a number of places and more so the authorities did not allow the vehicles beyond the Sullah Park.
While some people made it to the function after covering a long distance on foot, others including the children, had to retreat back without attending the function. The vehicles carrying people were not allowed to move beyond Sulah Park and Gran More check posts about 6 kms away from the venue of the function. The students tipped for presentation of cultural programme at the function too could not reach the venue due to non availability of transport .The people have criticized the civil administration for the tightest ever security making it impossible for them to reach to the venue of the Independence function as they were stopped 6 kms beyond the stadium as a result of which they failed to take part in the celebrations.
