HC directs CBI to submit latest status of investigation | Mysterious disappearance of boy from Vijaypur | | Early Times Report
jammu, Sept 1: In the mysterious disappearance of 12 year old Vishal Sharma, a 6th class student, from Vijaypur, high court judge Tashi Rabstan today directed CBI to submit the latest status of investigation within three weeks. The court also issued a notice to the CBI director which was accepted by the agency's standing counsel. The case was transferred to CBI by the high court in a petition filed by the missing boy's father Rajesh Sharma. Vishal had gone missing under mysterious circumstances while playing with the pet of his neighbour near Sabzi Mandi, Vijaypur, on May 5, 2014. The petitioner's counsel submitted that after the high court entrusted the investigation of the case to CBI in October 2015, a prompt action was expected from the investigating agency, following the failure of police to locate the child, but even after six months it had failed to make any headway in the case. It was alleged that even as CBI had a special cell to deal with such cases, no serious effort had been made by it to locate the missing boy. Another counsel said the petitioner was forced to again knock at the high court doors so that the entire probe was monitored by the it. After hearing the counsels, Justice Rabstan directed CBI's standing counsel to submit the latest status of the investigation within three weeks. (JNF) |
