Department of Posts has issued a set of postage stamps commemorating 150 years of First War of Independence. The year 1857 witnessed the First War of Independence
Mr Budki further said that this is just a reminder for the younger generation of our nation about the sacrifices that were made by our elders to achieve freedom for the motherland.
He further disclosed that the stamps were issued on 15th August 2007 at the Directorate of Posts at New Delhi in the denomination of Rs. 5/= and Rs. 15/= and the total number of stamps printed were 0.8 Million. These beautifully designed stamps have been made available at all Philatelic Bureaux and Counters viz.: Head Post Offices of J & K Postal Circle.
