| VDC training held | | | Early Times Reporter

The village defence committee (VDC) members from Jammu region were imparted five days weapons and tactical training by 7 RAJPUTANA RIFLES of Sunrise Brigade under the aegis Tiger Division at BD Bari which culminated today. The VDCs were formed in late nineties and civilians were selected, trained and armed to protect their village from terrorist threat. They are also effective in providing real time information to the police and Security Forces with regard to terrorist activities.
Army and Police jointly organised this training to instill a sense of confidence in them and to increase the liaison between them and the Security Forces. The training conducted at Bd Bari, was effective in achieving the aim with 78 VDC members from 21 villages around Utter Behani and Pur Mandal of Samba Tehsil who participated in the event enthusiastically which involved weapon handling, training in military tactics, and firing of their weapons.
