Will Pakistan accept a deal between Delhi and separatists?
9/4/2016 7:54:55 PM
The Congress wants the BJP to resolve the Kashmir issue. Congress had remained in power for the last 15 years and for years before the Atal Behari Vajpayee Government and the one formed by the Janata Dal. Had Congress done anything to resolve the Kashmir issue? No it could not do so because of the mindset of Pakistan which has been seeking to incorporate Kashmir with Pakistan. How does then the Congress has the guts to tell the BJP to resolve the Kashmir issue ? Senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad has said that the onus of finding a solution to the Kashmir issue lies on the shoulders of the BJP which leads the NDA Government in the centre. Should the BJP handover Kashmir, rather Jammu and Kashmir to Pakistan which could be a possible solution to the problem ? No party in power in the centre can dare to barter away even an inch of the territory of Jammu and Kashmir. Possibly Azad, despite being a veteran Congress leader has forgotten the stand that Pakistan has been taking on Kashmir. Azad, who was in Srinagar for taking stock of the ongoing situation in Kashmir, by being in power the State as well as New Delhi, only BJP could find the long-lasting solution to Kashmir issue."Whatever BJP decides is good for the nation and is within the constitution, Congress will not oppose it," he said. Azad, the former chief minister of Jammu Kashmir, who is also the member of Congress Working Committee (CWC), said BJP cannot pass the buck on Kashmir resolution and blame anybody now. Stressing that New Delhi's attempt of holding dialogue with the mainstream political parties would not solve Kashmir issue, he called for opening channels of dialogue with "non-mainstream and other stake holders."Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh visited Kashmir twice after the spurt in killings of civilians at the hands of police, troops and paramilitary troops but every time he met the mainstream politicians while Prime Minister Narendra Modi also met a delegation of mainstream opposition parties in New Delhi. Azad said when UPA government led by Congress was in power in New Delhi, Congress was inclined to walk an extra mile for resolving the Kashmir issue but BJP created hurdles in its way by oppose them at every step at the all-India level. It would have been better for Azad to have explained what sort of hurdles the BJP created. Well Azad says that the issue of Kahsmir should be resolve within the Constitution of India and within the framework of national interest. Does bartering away Kashmir for peace can be treated as within the framewrork of the national interest and the Constitution. Suppose the BJKP will reopen the channels olf dialogue with the separatists will it clinch the issue? That too when the separatists want either "Azadi" or Kashmir's incorporation with Pakistan . This way Azad should realize that resolving the Kahsmir issue is quite ticklish and even if some deal was finalized with the separatists will Pakistan accept that deal? Possibilities seem to be remote.
