Seminar on Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao held

Jammu, Sept 6: The 'Girl Child' - future mother- centuries over remained victim of ignorance of patriarchal society and the latter has come to be confronted with sharply falling Child Sex Ratio (CSR)- a worrisome situation.
Staff and students of GGHSS Channi Himmat focused on seminar on Beti Bachao Beti Padhao held today by team led by former IGP S. S. Bijral.
Quoting American great scientist George Washington Carver " Weed is a flower in disguise. If weed is that lets know the woman," S.S.Bijral said the beauties of woman remaining 'not understood', the society treats her the way it treats the weed.
He said the woman- girl child of yesteryears- is an unmatched symbol of love, patience, forbearance, sacrifice, determination, courage , who serves the society uniquely by being home builder, child's first role model, and a spiritual teacher. By discriminating against her the society weakens life she embodies, which lead to weakening of nation. He called upon girls to actively take part in sports, education and other extracurricular activities for awareness is fast catching up that a strong girl child means a strong nation for the women form 50% of nation population. Choudhary Kamal Singh by quoting umpteen examples of girls who excelled In various fields along their compatriot boys and urged girls present there to upstage their thinking and life attitude for building a strong Bharat. 21 girl students from different education streams were awarded medals recognizing their excellent performance in their last board exams to encourage other girls also for upstaging their performance. A banner conveying 'Beti Ka samman desh ka samman' was also fixed up to serve a ready reminder to them to contribute to society by helping build up falling CSR.
Radhika Devi student of 12th class who recited a heart touching poem on theme subject BBBP was awarded a cash prize of Rs 500/- by S.S.Bijral former IGP, patron of NGO Mother The Nature.
Anju Dogra state Committee member anchored the function and thanked principal Shehnaz Choudhary without whose cooperation this function of national importance could not have been possible.
