Rajnath seeks answers in Mush's Kashmir claims

Taking note of Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf's recent claim that there was 'sea change' in India's attitude on Jammu and Kashmir, BJP President Rajnath Singh today said it was a 'clear proof' of the incumbent UPA government's utter diplomatic failure.
Reports reaching here said that in his address at the BJP Executive, Mr Rajnath Singh found fault with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for diluting India's diplomatic advantage by acknowledging Pakistan as a 'victim of terror' at Havana. Gen Musharraf only last week was contending that Pakistan had not abandoned its old issues but had made Government of India agree Jammu and Kashmir was the 'core issue'.
Under the NDA the same General had committed not to allow Pakistan soil to harbour terrorism and his recent statement holds contrast to UPA's diplomatic failure, Mr Singh said.
Accusing the UPA of twiddling its fingers and burying its head like an ostrich, Mr Singh said Pakistan and China were bolstering their presence in the Indian Ocean region. China had established its naval base at Gwadar in Pakistan while setting up its monitoring centres in some islands of Myanmar and Sri Lanka to keep an eye on the activities of the Indian Navy. "China has raised claim over Arunachal Pradesh while Pakistan is getting involved in internal affairs of Sri Lanka. There are constant reports of an association between ISI and Maoists in Nepal", he said.
He said all these activities right from the Himalayan mountains to peninsular coasts indicate that strategic safety of the country was not protected as it should be under the UPA regime.
