| Empowering Jammu, Ladakh is necessity: BJP | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Sep 22 Some drastic changes in the existing politico-administrative and constitutional structure of Jammu and Kashmir state leading up to the empowerment of Jammu and Ladakh have become a dire necessity and that the formation of three provincial councils, one each for Kashmir, Jammu and Ladakh, invested with financial and legislative powers, could lead to such an empowerment of the discriminated against regions of the state”. In a statement from Bhopal, where the BJP National Executive Meeting is taking place, BJP State president Ashok Khajuria revealed this, and added that the BJP National Executive has taken a serious note of the indifferent attitude of the Congress-led coalition government in Jammu and Kashmir to the miserable plight of the refugees from West Pakistan, Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK), Kashmir Valley and those of 1965 and 1971. Ashok Khajuria further revealed that the BJP National Executive take the refusal on the part of the state’s ruling coalition to grant citizenship rights to the Hindu refugees from West Pakistan as a shameful act and it has taken a firm stand that the BJP would go to any extent to make the state government grant all those rights which are available to the Indian citizens under the Union Constitution. He also disclosed that the BJP National Executive regards Article 370 of the Indian Constitution as the root cause of all the problems being faced by the people of the state in general, and those of Jammu and Ladakh and refugees of all varities in particular, and it is of the firm view that Article 370 must go lock, stock and barrel.
