| Invites for Kashmiri separatists | | Pak High Commissioner’s Iftihar Party | | Early Times Reporter Srinagar | Sep 22 Kashmiri separatist leaders,who have been invited by the Pakistan High Commissioner to an Iftihar party,are likely to explore the progress of the ongoing India-Pakistan dialogue on various bilateral problems. Besides leaders of All Party Hurriyat Conference(APHC) those belonging to the JKLF,Tehrik Hurriyat Conference,Democratic Freedom Party and others.The Iftihar party was being hosted by the Pakistan High commission on September 26 and the Kashmiri separatists are expected to leave for Delhi on September 25. Democratic Freedom Party Chief,Mr Shabir Ahmed Shah,said today that he had received the invitation but he was not sure whether he would be able to attend it.He said that since he was suffering from a disc problem he may not be in a position to travel to Delhi.However,in case there was some improvement he would definitely attend the party. In reply to a question he said that in case he was not able to attend the party he would send his two trusted men,Maulana Mohd.Abdullah Qari and Mr Mohd.Amin Bhat. APHC leader,Prof. Abdul Gani Bhat also confirmed that he and other members of the Hurriyat executive committee have received the invitation.He said that it is a gettogether and during the meeting “I do not think there is any possibility and scope for discussing politics with the senior functionaries of the Pakistan High Commission.” Others said that atleast there was scope for knowing the progress in the bilateral dialogue that has been going on during the last over two years.Prof. Bhat said that “all sensible people favour sustained and purposeful dialogue for settling the Kashmir issue.”Asked whether some union ministers were also trying to persuade the Prime Minister to resume his dialogue with the APHC leaders,Prof. Bhat said that “I have not met anybody who is opposed to the resumption of dialogue.Yes only those who do not want peace to return to Kashmir oppose talks between the centre and the APHC.” The Pakistan High Commissioner has invited also Syed Ali Shah Geelani,who heads Tehrik Hurriyat Conference.But Mr Geelani has decided not to attend the Iftihar party.Sources close to him said that since Mr Geelani was not well he would not be in a position to travel to Delhi. Sources close to him said that so far “we have not decided whether Mr Geelani would send some other leader to attend the Iftihar Party.This will be decided in a meeting shortly.”
