| Locals encroach state land, police 'reluctant' to register FIR | | | M S Nazki Early Times Report Poonch, Sept 9: It seems that land grabbing has become order of the day as several such cases have been reported in this frontier district for the past quite some time. The latest report has come from Parat area of Gursai in Mendhar tehsil where illegal construction on the state land is alleged to be going on in full swing. Sources alleged that several illegal houses were being constructed on state land falling under khasra No 188 by some locals in Parat village. Some locals and Gursai naib-tehsildar Abdul Kabir had brought the matter to the notice of tehsildar Shahzad Khan, sources claimed. The tehsildar had taken up the matter with the Gursai police station SHO and asked him to lodge an FIR in the matter and take legal action against those involved in alleged illegal construction on the state land, sources said. Sources alleged that the concerned police were showing reluctance in lodging FIR against the accused despite the tehsildar's directions. The people of the area have appealed to the district administration to take action against the accused and retrieve the land from them. "If the pace of encroaching state land goes on in such a way, the day is not far when no state land will be left in the district," they felt. |
