| Two Pak guides arrested from border | | | By Govind Chouhan Jammu | Sep 22 The Army today arrested a retired Pakistani Army jawan and a 10ths class student from the border area of Balakote in Mendhar district Poonch when they were hidding near the border. Acting on a specific information that two Pakistani guides were moving in suspicious circumstances on this side of the Border, jawans of 19 Dogra Regiment swung into action and cordoned off the area and after two hours long search party managed to arrest two Pakistan guides from 638 post at Balakote border. Sources said they have been identified as 37-year Nazir Ahmed son of Late Lal Mohd, a retired army jawan of Pakistan army and 16-year Mohd Yasir son of Late Saif Ullah both residents of tehsil Nikal district Kotli, Pakistan. Army also recovered some documents, map and some code languages from their possession used during infiltration. Sources said during interrogation they told the army that they were active in giving safe passage to the infiltrators from across the border who helping them in carrying weapons and other ammunition .They also gave names of some other persons who were working as guides for the militants. Sources said both were also produced before the local Tehsildar and their statement said that they had wrongly crossed the border Sources said after the recovery of map and other things from their possession and their disclosure that they were hiding on the India side of the border for the last three days has put a question mark on very existence of forces of the border. Sources said during interrogation the arrested guides also told that many local youth from the border districts were now in Pakistan for the last four months for getting weapons training and three to four big groups of militants were also hiding near the border waiting for the opportune time to cross this side of the border. They are also reported to admitted their involvement in helping the youth cross the border for arms training in PoK During further questioning these youth admitted that they were getting hefty sums from the Pakistan Government for working as the guides of the ultras as they were fully abreast about the topography of the area. The duo is also reported to have said that they were fully aware of the militants’ code language and have been using the same while helping the terrorists to cross this side of the border. A senior army officer said that they have been receiving information for the last couple of days about the intensified activities of these guides and the surveillance has been mounted to nab them. Sources further said that the interrogation was still on when the last reports came in and more arrests of such guides are likely to follow.
