| After Thajiwara, KPs visiting Verinag, Anantnag | | Havan for welfare of entire humanity | | Early Times Reporter Jammu|Sep 22 Under the auspices of Vetasta Devasthan Prabandak Committee(VDPC) Verinag and Prabandak Committee Nagbal Anantnag (PCNA), the first batch of 200 pilgrims from different migrant camps and colonies of Jammu left today for pilgrimage to Veth-Vitur (Verinag), the origin of river Jehlum and ancient spring "Nagbal", Anantnag in South Kashmir. The second and third batch of pilgrims are also leaving tomorrow and on September 24. It is here to mention that around half a dozen Hindu temples have been thrown open by Kashmiri Pandits for worship in South Kashmir within last four months. Recently it was Thajiwara, Bijbehara, where the holy shrine of Lord Shiva was thrown open after a gap of 18 years by Devesthan Prabandak Commitee Bijbehara (DPCB). According to R K Bhat, Secretary VDPC that the annual yatra and ‘Havan’ is being revived after a gap of 18 years on the eve of Veth Truwah , the birthday of Vitasta. "We are celebrating the birthday of Vitasta at its original place Veth-Vitur on September 25, for the first time after migration" he added. Bhat, said that the Vitasta is the holy source of the river of Kashmir, which is also called as Jehlum . The Hindus believe the holy twin springs at Vitasta to be the virgin Roopa (Kumari roopa) of Mata Parvati and the Hindus also believe that the Parvati after her marriage to lord Shiva came in the form of a water sprout at Verinag which is at one kilometer distance from the Veth-Vitru springs, he added. All the Pandits of Dooru, Verinag and Chingund have hailed the efforts of VDPC for taking initiative for revival and restoration of one of the most sacred shrines of Kashmir. The 27- year Rockey Pandita, engineer by profession at Delhi and also a free-lance journalist said “It will be really a new world for me when I will visit my village Chinigund-Verinag after about 18 years where I was born”. “The people of Dooru-Verinag area are eagerly waiting to see their Pandit brethren " Rockey said after reaching Jammu with his family from Delhi to participate in the Yatra. Badri Nath Pandita, Advocate, the active member of VDPC has appreciated the co-operation being extended by district and Tehsil authorities and particularly the local people of all hues and coloures for providing necessary facilities for the yatris. Pandita expressed a hope that the Yatra will lead to restoration of trust between the Kashmiri majority and Kashmiri minority and called the" Yatra a step in the right direction". M K Raina, Advocate and B L Bhat (Engineer) also hailed the Yatra in the spirit in which it is intended. Meanwhile, the President Prabandak Committee Nagbal Anantnag(PCNA) P N Goja (Adovcate) said that ‘we are performing annual Havan on September 24 and 25 on the eve of "Anant Chaturdashi" at Nagbal Anantnag. The Havan is being performed for the welfare of one and all, particularly, for the State of Jammu and Kashmir. "The Havan will commence on the evening of September 24 and will culminate on 25",he said. He said, "it is after the gap of eighteen long years that the Havan is being organized in the Anantnag town.
