Govt sends proposal of Rs 9 cr to centre for construction of nallahs: Bhalla

Jammu | Sep 23 Saying that state government is determined to complete all ongoing development projects in stipulated period and appealed to the masses to cooperate with official machinery for achieving quality results.
This was disclosed by MLA Gandhi Nagar, Raman Bhalla while addressing a series of public meetings at Raipur Satwari and Bhour Camp outskirts of Jammu today.
Addressing the gathering, Mr Bhalla said that coalition government headed by Chief Minister, Mr Ghulam Nabi Azad has taken a number of major and minor projects in the state especially in the rural and backward pockets which include opening and up-gradation of educational institutions, better road connectivity besides providing healthcare facilities to the masses at their doorsteps.
He said that state government has sent a proposal recently to the centre of Rs 9 crore including construction of nallahs and other projects so that rainy water do not cause any damage to the houses in these localities. He said that the open nallahs would be covered with slabs and the leveling of zig-zag areas would be done so that water do not enter in low lying population and their houses saved during rainy season. He said that government would provide subsidy to poor people for the construction of their 112 latrines.
Bhalla said that in the city of temples, an aquarium has been constructed to attract tourists hailing from outside the state while the other similar projects would be taken up for the beautification of the city so that more and more tourists visit with the result the socio-economic condition of the people would improve to a larger extent.
He also laid foundation stone of hand pump at Bhour Camp saying that on its completion the long pending demand of drinking water of the people of the area would be fulfilled. He said that work of one dozen hand pumps have been completed recently in the Gandhi Nagar constituency. He said that drinking water and power supply position has improved with the laying of water pipes and electric poles, adding that government is committed to provide all basic amenities to all the three regions of the state equally.
Later, Bhalla inaugurated ‘Dulhan Saree Shop’ at Gandhi Nagar in the private concern dealing with the items like designs, suits, sarees and lehnghaas.
A large number of deputations and individuals met the MLA and projected the demands of their areas. He gave them a patient hearing and assured that these would be solved in a phased manner.
