As a follow up action to revitalize the role and functioning of the District Level Vigilance and Monitoring Committee, Doda, a meeting was convened here, the other day, under the chairmanship of Member Parliament, Ch. Lal Singh in which various issues were discussed to make the committee an important instrument for effective and purposeful monitoring of state and centrally sponsored schemes in the districts of Doda, Ramban and Kishtwar.
This first ever meeting of the Vigilance and Monitoring was also attended by the Chairman, State Social Welfare Board, Mr G.M Saroori, District Development Commissioner, Doda, Mr Saurabh Bhagat, Additional DC, Doda, SDM, Gandoh and all district/sectoral officers besides the committee members from Kishtwar, Ramban, Doda and Banihal.
While giving a resume of the organizational setup of the district level committee, the DDC, Doda who is also the Secretary of the committee dwelt at length the gigantic task ahead of the Vigilance and Monitoring Committee in the districts. He stressed upon the need to make it more viable, effective and result oriented at ground level to check physical and financial achievements of the poverty alleviation and other developmental schemes like NREGA, DRDA, SGSY, IAY, PMGSY, Rural Sanitation Programme, ARWSP, Watershed, Haryali Projects SGRY in all the three districts.
In addition, the meeting also took stock of various schemes currently being executed under Power, PHE, Social Welfare, Horticulture, Agriculture, Haryali Projects and Self Employment sectors. Members of Committee brought into the notice of the chair the various lapses under different schemes such as non payment of wages under NREGA in Ramban. The Chairman directed the concerned authorities to clear the pending wages under NREGA While addressing the meeting, Ch. Lal Singh asked the officers and members to gear up their efforts and make the committee result oriented.
Members of the committee, Sajjad Shaheen, Farooq Chowdhary, Javed Malik and Pradeep Parihar also spoke in the meeting and assured their full cooperation to the chairman and administration in ensuring the implementation of various schemes in letter and spirit.
