Jammu, Sept 13: Daily wagers and need base workers working in the Government Medical College and Hospital Jammu and its associated hospitals expresses resentment over the callous attitude of the department for not paying the due wages and salaries for the last 30 months. In a statement issued here, it stated as the engaged workers have been taking care essential sections and units viz to run gas plant and AC plants, lift operators, while others have been assigned the task of ensuring proper water, electricity supply and other important units of these hospitals round the clock. They have already apprised to the competent authority for last few months but nothing has been done so far. "Due to lackadaisical approach of department concerned toward theses employees, we are facing financial crisis. Their children are facing suspension in schools for non-payment of their school fees and we do not have even bus fare to come to attend to our duties in the hospitals. They are already indebted to private financers or relatives, who now refuse to further finance us, "it further stated. It also said that the indifference of the department was forcing them to stop work and adopt the path of agitation and decided to go on strike from September 15, 2016 for an indefinite period till their all demands are not considered by the department. |
