| SMVDU registers nine-times increase | | | EARLY TIMES REPORTER JAMMU, AUGUST 17:
A nine-fold increase has been registered in the rolls of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University with a number of students swelling from 64 in 2004 to 550 this year. Vice-Chancellor, Prof. N. K. Bansal said that under graduate and Post Graduate courses are being imparted in computer education, electronic and communication, mechanical engineering, industrial bio-technology and B-Architecture. The university is the first and the only varsity in the state offering 4-year degree courses in Architecture. Prof. Bansal said that the University has also started Post Graduate courses in MBA, Master degree in Business Economics and M-tech in Energy Management. In addition, Doctorate Degrees is also being awarded in the varsity, he added. The Vice Chancellor said that the university has adopted IITs Model in Residential-cum-Technical University, setting a target for itself to be the leading university in the country. ‘Though excellence is our objective yet it is not a destination but only and journey where everyone tries to learn at every movement’, he said. Prof. Bansal said that working apace on various hostel, administrative and academic blocks on the sprawling camps in order to provide serene academic atmosphere to students coming from all over the country. |
