More than 100 passengers of the Jet airways today had a narrow escape as the airbus went off the strip at Srinagar airport skidding off to the adjoining green fields.
Immediately after the plane skidded off the track on runway, the crew sounded state of emergency which put the passengers in a panicky situation. "May started crying as this seemed to be the last flight", a passenger who was on board told EARLY TIMES over phone from Srinagar.
All passengers, however, later embarked safe out of the place with no injuries or even bruises to any on. But those few minutes of the trouble when the plane had difficulties in landing and subsequently skidded off the journey were hell out the journey.
According to a passenger who was flying by the same flight, even the pilots and crew were also not sure about what is to happen next. "It was a miraculous escape", she said. Since the pilots and crew too had got scared of the skidding and the cause was not immediately known to them that is why they announced emergency. It was during this state of emergency that the passengers were made to make the safe exits.
All passengers were absolutely safe and made their onward journeys after embarking, said an airport official.
The Jet airways place which skidded off the runway had come from Delhi and was supposed to fly back via Jammu after a brief halt at Srinagar. However, due to technical snag the plane could not make the onward flights.
Engineers have been summoned to check the snag. As per the preliminary investigation it was learnt that the plane skidded due to pinball hole in the wheel alloy.
