| Centre releases food grains for Ladakh district under SGRY | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Sep 24 Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India has released 151 metric tonnes of Wheat and 452 metric tonnes of common Rice, (Total food grains 603 metric tonnes) during the current financial year to Ladakh District of J&K State through Food Corporation of India (FCI) Depots in the State under the centrally sponsored scheme of Sampooran Grameen RozgarYojana (SGRY). Under the Scheme, during the year 2007-2008, food grains be given to the labourers under SGRY at the rate of 3 kg instead of 5 kg per manday as part of wages. Timely payment of wages and timely and adequate supply of food grains must be ensured. If the foodgrains are not available, wages should be paid in cash. The transportation cost for lifting the food grains from FCI Depots will be borne by the State Government. After keeping its own share, the share of each Intermediate Panchayat and Gram Panchayat will be determined in accordance with the formula prescribed in the SGRY guidelines by DRDA/ZP.
