From Srinagar SP North received telephone calls and identity of the female was conveyed as that of Nassema Akhtar W/o Abdul Rehman Bhat R/o Habba Kadal Srinagar. The team started investigating the case to find out how the lady came to Jammu and who was accompany her. The hotel staff helped the police in providing descriptive roll of the male accompany the lady which was conveyed to various persons in Srinagar. Simultaneously it was reliably learnt by SP City North that the lady was also having some relation with one Manzoor Ahmed Sofi, a head constable in security. The descriptive roll obtained from hotel staff resembled with that of Manzoor Ahmed. As such presence of said head constable was ascertained from security lines. It was found that he was absent from his duties, which gave rise to reasonable suspicion on him. After ascertaining his home address, a police team was sent to Pulwama to bring him to Jammu for ascertaining the facts. During questioning he broke down and confessed that he had murdered the lady. He further disclosed that one year back he had married with said lady who had strained relations with her previous husband. Manzoor is already having his wife and children. As such he kept said lady in rented room in Srinagar where the subject used to stay. During the course of time, the lady was creating hurdles in the smooth relations, which the subject was maintaining with his own wife and thus being fed up with this lady, he decided to kill her. Accordingly as per the plan, the subject allured Nassema Akhtar to accompany him for a pleasure trip to Jammu. On reaching Jammu, a room was hired in Mahindra Hotel Vinayak Bazar where the duo stayed for there for four days. However, on the intervening night of 18-19 at about 3 AM, he strangulated her to death, the spokesman said.
