| Education volunteers stage protest demonstration | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Sep 24 Eucational Volunteers today staged a protest demonstration under the banner of All J&K Educational Volunteer Association against education department and chief education officer and demanded conversion of Education Guarantee Centres (EGC’s) into regular Primary schools as envisaged in the Government of India schemes. Addressing a protest demonstration, Neelu Lata, president of the association criticized the education department and chief education officer for not converting EGCs into primary schools. She also added that in 2002 centre under Sarve Shiksha Abhiyan Mission started EGCs centres and at least 6000 centres working in state. She also said that according to the central govt. these centres to be converted into primary schools after two years but their inordinate delay caused in the conversion of Education Guarantee Centres (EGC’s) into regular Primary schools as envisaged in the Government of India schemes. The association members also said that many memorandums have been submitted to Chief Education Officer, EM, Div Com and many others but nothing concrete should ever come out, so they have no other option to come on road staged dharnas in support of their demands. If their demands are not considered soon they will take extreme steps, they warned
