Much later than expected, the office of the Divisional Commissioner has not send a warning but also shivers down the spine of its inmates as they have a brush with their life each time they attend the office.
Considered unsafe since long, the building of the Jammu's Divisional Commissioner office has built cracks and last week it appeared as it may collapse any moment like a pack of cards. It is been almost ten years now that the officers attending the Divisional Commissioner office, including the divisional administrative boss, have been spending seven odd hours in an unsafe zone on every working day.
The danger was felt too closely last week when the building developed apparent cracks promoting the authorities to take up the matter with the Chief Secretary. The Chief Secretary taking serious view of the matter advised the Financial Commissioner, Revenue Mr GD Wadhwa to look into the matter immediately, sources told EARLY TIMES.
Wadhwa who rushed in to Jammu last week, sources said, is camping here to manage an alternate building for the Divisional Commissioner office. Sources said that an hunt is on for finding a new building for the Divisional Commissioner's office and authorities are considering the options of shifting entire office to JDA Building at Rail Head complex.
