| 2 LeT militants killed in South Kashmir | | | Early Times Reporter Srinagar|Sep 25 Police today claimed to have eliminated two Lashkar-e-Toiba militants, including a Pakistan national, in Kulgam district of South Kashmir. Superintendent of Police Kulgam, S P Pani told News Agency of Kashmir that police received information regarding presence of militants at Yamrach Kulgam falling under the jurisdiction of Police Station Yaripora Based on the inputs, police immediately launched a massive operation and a special team was deputed in the area to track down the militants. As the police zeroed in onto the hideout militants opened indiscriminate fire and rushed out of the house, the SP Said adding, the fire was returned and the in the ensuing gun battle two militants were gunned down. He said that there was no collateral damage in the encounter adding that 62RR also joined the operation in later stages. The slain militants have been identified as Gazi Ahmed Mir alias Gazi son of Manzoor Ahmed Mir of Gund Mussa Khilan Pulwama and Hanzulla of Pakistan. SP further said that Gazi was a close associate of Ab Hai Rather alias Abu Saad alias Khubaib son of Abdul Gani of Ayalpora, Shopian who was the only local LeT commander in South Kashmir and was killed in an encounter recently. He further revealed that Ab Hai alias Khubaib was a high profile militant who was involved in the Shalimar Bagh Bus blast on July 29, 2007 in which seven people including five Gujaratis were killed. He was also involved in attack on MLA Wachi Mohd Khalil Naik near village Muradpora Check Cholan and Commanding Officer of 62 RR and had made an unsuccessful attempt on SDM Shopian, besides, firing on police Gagran and Imam Sahib Camps and the slain militant Gazi used to work with him.
