| DFP organize inter school symposia on iodine | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Sep 25 The Udhampur unit of the directorate of field publicity of launched a 10-day long publicity awareness campaign on iodine deficiency disorders in Ramnagar and Udhampur blocks. The campaign has been launched with a view to create awareness among the rural masses about the iodine deficiency disorders, the campaign was organized in collaboration with health, education, ICDS, Rural development and some NGO’s. On the concluding day of the campaign, an inter school symposium on the topic “prevention of iodine deficiency disorders” was organized in the premises of government higher secondary school Badola. In the symposium, 14 students of six higher secondary and high school i.e. Govt. HSS School Badola and High School Kalta, Kotli Jijjar, Chedyai, Seen Brahmna and Jib participated and expressed their views and stress was laid for the use of only iodized salt. Sonika Rajput of govt. HSS Nadola, Palvi Sharma of Govt. HS Jib and Neha Devi of govt. HS Kotli Jijjar bagged first, second and third position respectively. The function was presided over by Dev Raj Gupta, principal HSS Badola and distributed the prizes. In his speech, he stressed the audience to give wide publicity for the use of iodized salt. Master Kartar Chand, Kamlesh Gupta and Bansi Lal Gupta, field publicity officer also delivered speeches on the subject. The principal thanked the DFP to organize such awareness programme in the remote area.
