“PKM celebrates Vitasta Divas”

The Panun Kashmir Movement (PKM) held a rally today at Jammu in connection with VETH_TRUVAH (Vitasta Divas). The rally was held at Rajinder Park, Canal, Jammu. It was addressed among others by Prof. H.L. Jalali, Prof, Virender Gupta, Dr. Manmohan Jyotshi and S. N. Sharma. The proceedings of the programmes were conducted by Upinder Kaul, General Secretary, PKM ladies Wing under the guidance of its secretary, Prof. Rama Kual made arrangements for the rally in which a large number of man and women participated. Kashmir Sikh Displaced Forum also participated in the programme. Virji Sumbly, and eminent artist of the Kashmiri Pandit community, presented big portrait of Mata Vitasta to the president of the PKM, Ashwani Kumar Churngoo on the occasion in recognition of his services to the community. The participants also showered lowers, in the name of Mata Vitasta on the sacred waters of Ranbir Canal symboliticaly and also held ‘Deep-Visarjan’ on this occasion. An oath to continue the struggle in exile for the establishment of Homeland in Kashmir was also taken by the people present in the rally.
Ashwani Kumar Churngoo, President, PKM, while speaking on the occasion, laid emphasis on the politico-cultural aspects of the movement of the Kashmiri Pandits Mata Vitasta, he said, has been the lifeline of and witness to Kashmiri Pandit Socio-Cultural and political history.
He also declared on this Vitasta Divas that the PKM shall be taking out a political pilgrimage in a couple of months and named the pilgrimage as Sankalp Yatra. This Yatra shall start from Srinagar, Kashmir and shall cover 9 states and 2 unions Territories of India. He also made an announcement, on the occasion, to the effect that the Yatra, Which shall culminate in Jammu, will primarily focus on the political issues concerning Jammu and Kashmir at National and international level.
