Former BJP President and former Law Minister K Jana Krishnamurthy died at a hospital in Chennai today following prolonged illness.
He was 79. The BJP leader is survived by wife, two sons and three daughters.
A frequent visitor to Jammu in his capacity as BJP national president, Jana Krishnamurthy was one of most controversial leaders of the party. BJP state president Ashok Khajuria has condoled the demise and expressed his heartfelt sympathies with the bereaved family.
Krishnamurthy, who was the BJP national president between 2001 to 2002, was undergoing treatment for kidney failure for about two months.
Senior BJP leader L K Advani visited the hospital and enquired about his health during his visit to Tamil Nadu last week, reports reaching here said.
The last rites will take place tomorrow.
BJP president Rajnath Singh and senior BJP leaders are expected to attend the funeral, the sources added
