Chasing a target of 204 runs, Haryana exhausted their allotted quota of 50 overs at 198 runs with last wicket intact.
Earlier, finding the pitch in good shape, Haryana opted to field after winning the toss. They succeeded in their game plan and managed to restrict the strong side of Punjab to a total of 203 runs. Punjab even could not play the full 50 overs and bowled out sparing 2.2 overs of their innings.
Bharat Malhotra remained the top scorer with 80 ball 46 runs while Amitoz Singh contributed 42 (off 52 balls). Amarpreet Singh also played nice innings of 31 runs facing mere 24 deliveries. From Haryana, Nitin Saini took three wickets giving away just eight runs while Rajwinder Singh claimed two. Mohit, Ashish and Jayant shared one wicket each.
In reply, Haryana started well with first wicket partnership of 42 runs in eight overs. But, to their dismay, Punjab could not reach the required total despite a brilliant knock of 73 by Nukul Dager.
