| Telecast three mandatory Doordarshan channels: DM issue orders to cable operators | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Sep 26 Cable operators blocking telecast of three mandatory channels of Doordarshan has been directed by the District Magistrate,Jammu, to radiate (telecast) three mandatory channels,DD National,DD News and DD regional or DD Bharati,on prime band in accordance with the cable television network (Regulation) Act 1995. The communication is in response to a complaint filed by the Prasar Bharti before the District Magistrate that the cable operators were not radiating or telecasting atleast two Doordarshan channels on their cable network. In the communication the District Magistrate has informed cable operators that during a meeting he had with them two years ago they had assured him that they would comply with the cable television(Regulation)Act of 1995 but reports had revealed that they had violated their commitment. The District Magistrate has conveyed to cable operators that those violating the cable television network (Regulation) Act of 1995 will be "dealt with strictly under law."He has also issued a long list of dos and donts for the cable operators telling Them they should not carry any programme which contained criticism of friendly countries,or was an attack on religions and communities,or included obscene material,or encouraged superstition,or slandering of religious and ethnic groups. In the communication the cable operators have been warned against using visuals hurting religious sentiments or derides any race or creed of incite people to crime or cause any disorder .They have been asked to desist from using visuals or advertisements which could promote dowry, child marriage, production, sale and consumption of cigarettes, tobacco and alcohol.
