Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Sudhanshu Pandey convened district level Disaster Management Committee meeting here today. District Development Commissioners, Superintendents of Police and other District Committee members of Jammu, Poonch, Rajouri, Kathua, Doda and Udhampur participated in the meeting.
In the meeting, Divisional Commissioner asked the District Committees constituted for the purpose to launch public awareness campaigns for imparting necessary training/education to the public at large particularly students. He asked them to identify state land for construction of disaster stores. He asked them to submit proposal for requirement of funds regarding construction of stores and provision for food, medicines, blankets, jute mating, animal fodder, tents, utensils etc besides arrangements for gensets, electric equipments, bulldozers, ambulances, vehicles, tools, implements, fire fighting equipments and material for construction of pre-fabricated sheds. He said that to identify safer zones and provision for temporary shelters in villages where victims can be shifted in their respective districts besides creation of infrastructure and shelter in the disaster prone area to meet the emergency situation. .
