| Awareness campaign on iodine deficiency held | | | Early Times Reporter Udhampur | Sep 26 As part of 10 days Awareness Campaign on Iodine Deficiency Disorders, the Udhampur unit of the Directorate of Field Publicity, organized one day Awareness Camp on Iodine deficiency Disorders, at Primary Health Centre (PHC) Hartrayan. In the morning, the unit organized a Healthy Baby show in the premises of Primary Health Centre, Hartrayan. Health, ICDS, Panchayati Raj Departments and NGOs coordinated the programme. In the Healthy Baby show, over 40 children from zero to five years of age group drawn from various villages were medically checked up by the team of health department including Dr. Sudesh Tanoz, Dr. Janak Raj and Shri Chanchal Singh Health Educator. In the Healthy Baby show, Master Mukesh S/o Mulak Raj R/o Mathan, Master Mohit S/o Balwan Singh R/o Suri Nallah bagged first, second and third position respectively. Later on, a women meet was also organized in which a large number of rural women and Anganwari workers of the area participated. Smt. Maya Devi (ASHA) of Mathan, Smt. Apita Devi (ASHA) of Hartrayan and Smt. Mumtaz Begum (ASHA) of Upper Hartrayan area interacted with the women and highlighted various diseases caused by the deficiency of iodine, six diseases of children, rural sanitation, pulse polio etc. The Anganwari workers, Smt. Swaran Kanta, Smt. Anju Lata and Ruksana delivered speeches on immunization and nutrition. Dr. Janak Raj And Dr. Sudesh Tanoz, Sh. Chanchal Singh, Health Educator and Sh. Bansi Lal Gupta, Field Publicity Officer delivered lecture on iodine deficiency an its precaution measures. A photo exhibition on Health Awareness was also organized by DFP.
