Army shifts out Uri Brigade commander | | | Early Times Report
New Delhi, Oct 1 Less than fifteen days after 4 heavily armed terrorists attacked an army base that left 19 soldiers dead, commander of the Uri Brigade Brigadier Somashankar has been shifted out pending an internal inquiry into the security lapses. "The move is routine as the inquiry is on," sources in the Army said here. Shifting of the commander from Uri comes two days after the Army avenged the Uri attack by carrying out surgical strikes across the LoC and destroyed launch pads of terrorists who were planning to infiltrate into the Indian territory. Immediately after avenging the attack, the Army seems to have focused its attention to the internal affairs to address the lapses without any further delay. Terrorists attacked the rear base of the Uri brigade headquarters where army units were stationed for duty turn over. The Army is carrying out its internal investigation to probe the circumstances that led to the September 18 terror attack that resulted in large number of casualties. |
