Meanwhile, a security personal was killed in the operations while an Army major sustained injuries. Reports said, Army foiled an infiltration bid and gunned down three militants along Line of Control in Poonch district today. In a separate incident, police and troops of the 10 Rashtriya Rifles troops launched an operation on a tip-off in Ghatt area of Doda district. A gunbattle took place between hiding militants and security forces, Doda Senior Superintendent of Police Manohar Singh said. In the gunbattle that lasted for over two hours, two top Hizbul militants were killed. They were identified as Mohmmad Shafi alias Nasir code delta one, self-styled divisional commander of Jammu region and Javed Iqbal alias Umar Gazi, self-styled district commander, Doda. While Shafi was active in militancy since 1995, Javed was involved since 2000. The recoveries from the spot included 2 AK rifles, 2 magazines, 110 rounds, 4 chinese grenades and some explosive material. In another gunbattle in Khori area of Bhudal tehsil of Rajouri district, two Lashker-e-Toiba militants were killed and one army jawan, Virender Kumar of Jammu, died last night, official sources said. The gunbattle took place after troops launched a search operation in Khori forest belt on specific infromation about the presence of militants in the area, they said. In Kashmir region at least four militants were killed in different operations in North Kashmir, the police said, Meanwhile, security forces arrested three Al-Badr militants and recovered war like stores, including deadly RDX in the Kashmir valley overnight, official sources said. They said Jammu and Kashmir police set up a naka at Sofanam Pinjoora in south Kashmir district of Shopian following a tip-off about militant movement. After a long wait, police arrested three Al-Badr militants identified as Mohammad Yousuf Ganie, Parvaiz Mohi-ud-Din Baba, Mohammad Sadiq Bhat during the checking. Troops of 63-Field Regiment during a search operation busted a hideout and recovered huge cache of arms and ammunition from the forest area of Jabeen Behak Morsary in the frontier district of Kupwara. The arms and ammunition recovered included two 9 mm Chinese pistols, two pistol magazines, 16 pistol rounds, 100 AK rounds, two detonators, 12 meters detonator wire, one hand grenade one IED remote unit and one IED switch unit.
