| Coalition claims fall flat; survey says J&K in reverse gear | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu|Sep 26 Day on day out we hear loud speeches and extended official campaign highlighting the progress Jammu and Kashmir has in past few years, but a recent survey says that the state in a reverse gear on almost all fronts. One of the most credible and widely read current affairs journal of the country, the India Today in its latest survey on the "State of States" has pained a grim picture of the state of affairs in Jammu and Kashmir thus flattening the claims of the Azad led coalition government that progress was being made on all fronts. The "India Today" survey titled "India's Best and Worst State (Leaders Lead Laggards Lag) said that the developmental scenario in the state despite huge flow of funds from the Central government is grim which speaks volumes about the tall hallow claims being made by the alliance partners Cong, Peoples Democratic Party. The survey clearly suggests that Jammu and Kashmir instead of moving a head despite Centre government's liberal unprecedented help has gone down in the ranking under the stewardship of chief minister Ghulam Nabi Azad. The opposition National Conference has made an issue out it. The National Conference may have been accused by the coalition partners of corruption and anarchy but during their regime Jammu and Kashmir stood at rank 9 in the same survey which now places the state at rank 11. During National Conference regime the state was figuring at No 1 in Primary Health sector despite having minimum fund allocation, but now it stands at rank 6. Referring to the agricultural sector NC spokesman said that state of Jammu and Kashmir which stood at No. 12 has limped at No. 15, three steps down from its previous position. The claims of coalition government on upgradation of Agriculture sector and introduction of technology mission fall flat. He said crores of rupees were spend aimlessly by the coalition but nothing is visible on ground. Despite receiving huge grants from centre for up gradation of social structure, educational institutions in J&K, the position remains dismal and the state has lost by three ranks in the position. A NC spokesman said the huge money received from the centre for developing infrastructure in the state has not been utilised properly and the ranking came down by three points from No. 8 to 11. He alleged that the money is being used by the government for increasing their own comfort level and the ministers and bureaucrats are eating the very vitals of state resources to be used for raising the socio economic condition of the people. Ridiculing coalition government of creating great media hype for holding early Budget session, NC spokesman said that this was another publicity stunt which could fetch nothing for the people. Expressing concern over the deterioration in law and order situation, the National Conference spokesman said that ranking has gone down from No. 13 to 17. He said that the rise in human rights violation and the crime rate has gone up in the state.
