Expressing dismay over the delay in execution of work by the Jammu and Kashmir Project Construction Corporation (JKPCC), Minister for Roads and Buildings Gulchain Singh Charak has warned them to start the work on a bridge within ten days or face action.
Directing General Manager of JKPCC to launch work on Yaribugh bridge in Rafiabad within 10 days, the minister said any further unnecessary delay in the project would earn disciplinary action against the erring functionaries.
The bridge had been approved under Asian Development Bank (ADB) funding at a cost of Rs 1.98 crore.
The Minister also instructed Superintending Engineer Baramulla to start blacktopping on Dingwacha-Yaribugh link road at the earliest.
However, the minister was assured by JKPCC authority that the construction work would start by October 4, 2007 and clarified that delay in the construction work was due to the rejection of design by ADB authority. The new design of the bridge was prepared by National Institute of Technology Srinagar.

Charak also took stock of the ongoing work on Panzala- Shalakote road which was macadamized under pilgrimage tourism programme at a cost of Rs 70 lakhs.
He was informed that 5-km road would be macadamized and widened this year to facilitate smooth traffic to national famous pilgrimage site of Gurudawara Tupina Sahib Shalakote-Rafiabad.
Charak also inspected 6.3 km Baramulla-Sangri top road constructed at a cost of Rs 1.25 crores under NABARD.
