| Kolkata student robbed off belongings | | | Early Times Reporter Srinagar|Sep 27 A student hailing from Kolkata, who had come to Srinagar to pursue studies at Kashmir University, was robbed off his belongings including cash Rs 11000 and a video camera by an unidentified person. Sources said that Shamim Ahmed Ansari of Kolkata had come to Srinagar to seek admission at Kashmir University for a postgraduate course and was staying at Raj Guest House near Dal Gate. "After procuring the admission form from the university Ansari went to Bab Rishi to pay obeisance at the Dargah", sources said adding, "He met one Farooq Ahmed Mir, who persuaded him to accompany him to Gulmarg for a picnic". Sources said that the duo went to Gulmarg on Wednesday and was site seeing together at the tourist spot. "However, Mir managed to give a slip to Ansari and decamped with his bag". Ansari was carrying cash Rs 11000 and a video camera beside other belongings in the bag, which was taken away by the cheat, sources added. The victim has lodged an FIR at Gulmarg police station but it is presumed that the cheat has revealed a fake identity to the victim. "I have not a single panny left in my pocket to go back to my home", Ansari said adding, "He has been begging in the city to arrange train fare".
