| Police arrests five for faking employments | | ‘Gang of cheaters busted’ | | Early Times Reporter Srinagar|Sep 27 Jammu and Kashmir police claimed to have busted a gang of cheaters and arrested five persons, including a government employee, who were minting money from unemployed youth for arranging a job in various government departments. A police spokesman said that the racket also involve some government officials who in connivance with the other accused were collecting money from poor persons by fraudulent means. The accused were not only cheating the poor people but also preparing fake appointment orders, he said. Though the reports of this fake recruitment racket was making rounds in Kashmir valley from last several months, police came in action when one Abdul Gaffar Bhat son of Ghulam Qadir Bhat of Chitragam Shopian lodged a written report at Police Station Zainpora alleging fraud and cheating by the accused persons. The Police swung into action and registered a case under FIR No 92/07 and investigation was entrusted upon Joginder Singh, SDPO Shopian, the spokesman said. During the course of investigation it surfaced that the racket was being run in an organised manner. The modus operandi adopted by the racketeers was to identifying un-employed youths - who were ready to spend some money for getting Govt. job – and trap them by making false promises. After the first installment of the payment was being made the victim was provided with the appointment order. The second and final installment of money was being paid to the accused after they were handing over the appointment orders to the victims. Interestingly in a case where fake appointment order with respect to Forest Protection Force (forest Guard) was given to one of the victim Bilal Ahmad Bhat son of Abdul Gaffar Bhat of Chitragam Zainpora, the uniform of Forest Protection Force (Forest Guard) was also given to the victim. After some days when the victim approached to the officer for payment of his salary, he came to know that not only his appointment order but even his transfer/placement order was fake. "However, in some cases the accused in connivance with the government officers managed to appoint the victims on the basis of the fake orders", sources added. Police said that after investigation of the case police zeroed in on five persons who were running the racket. They have been identified as Ali Mohd Gani S/o Gh. Hassan Gani R/o Chitragam, Latief Ahmad Ganie S/o Ali Mohd Gani R/o Chitragam, Gh. Nabi Bhat S/o Gh. Qadir Bhat R/o Kawoosa Budgam, Mohd Yaqoob Sheikh S/o Noor Mohd sheikh R/o Makhdoom Sahib Srinagar and Abdul Majid Zargar S/o Gh. Nabi Zargar R/o Kanihama Budgam. Huge quantity of fake appointment orders, identity cards and other documents have been seized from their possession, sources said adding, one computer belonging to Tariq Ahmad Rather son of Muhammad Abdullah Rather of Rambagh Bala Srinagar who was involved in illegal printing of these fake orders has also been seized and important data relating with the case is being retrieved by utilizing the services of a computer expert. Police said that the accused were being interrogated so that the other persons involved in the racket can also be nabbed. "This is an organised gang of cheaters and the possibility of some government officers involved in the racket can not be ruled out", a senior police officer said. |
