Powered by a strokeful century (104) from Nitin Saini, Haryana piled up a big total of 257 runs in the allotted 50 overs for the loss of nine wickets, which, in reply, J&K could not chase and lost all their wickets for a partly total of 143 runs in 42 overs. Nitish Sharma was the only batsman from J&K who could face the Haryana bowling attack and contributed maximum 25 runs. Meanwhile, in the second match of the day which was played at Sher-e-Kashmir Stadium, Punjab outplayed Delhi by a convincing margin of 55 runs. Earlier, Delhi won the toss and asked Punjab to bat first. However, their decision proved wrong as the bowlers failed to take wickets thus allowing Punjab to score a big total of 249 for the loss of seven wickets in the stipulated 50 overs. Amitoz Singh was top scorer from Punjab with 64 runs while Kanwar Raina contributed 60. Tarwar Kohli was another batsman who hit 50. For Delhi, Varun Sood, Darshan Kajaria and Virat Kohli took two wickets each. Later, chasing a run-rate of near five run per over, Delhi bowled out for mere 194 runs in 46.3 overs. The Delhi batsman could not tolerate the pressure mounted by the Punjab bowlers and lost wickets on regular intervals thus lost the match by 55 runs. Rahul Yadav was main scorer from Delhi with 42 runs. From Punjab, Himanshu and Lakshay shared two wickets each. Next matches: J&K to take on Punjab at Sher-e-Kashmir Stadium and HPCA to meet Delhi at Kashmir University on September 29 at 9.30 am.
