| Shaheed Bhagat Singh birth centenary celebrated | | | Early Times Reporter

To celebrate the birth centenary year of Shaheed Bhagat Singh a number of functions were organized by various student unions and organization here today. Speakers on the occasion threw light on the life of Bhagat Singh and his contribution in the freedom struggle of the country.
All India students federation (AISF) took out a rally from parade ground and after passing through various areas of the city culminated at Sahlimar Chowk. Addressing the activists, the general secretary of AISF, Akash Manhas appealed the youth to fotlow the path shown by great martyr of the country. He urged upon the youth work for the betterment of the country, which will be a great tribute to the Bhagat Singh. Others who also paid tributes were Anil Kotwal, Vimal Singh.
All India Trade Union Congress (AITOC) workers also celebrated the birth anniversary of Bhagat Singh president of AITUC N.K. Dogra in his address urged upon the youth fight for fundamental rights. He said corruption in the country is in its peaks and poor people are the worst hit. Others who also spoke on the occasion were Kamal Dev and Rakesh Sharma.
Jammu state students Morcha (JSSM) activists also celebrated the birth cenetary of great martyer with great enthusiasm. Dr. D.L. Choudhary who was the chief guest on the occasion urged upon the students adopt the path shown by Bhagat Singh.
Speaking on the occasion JSSM Vice president Vikrant Singh demanded construction of park in the name of Bhagat Singh and install a statue of great martyer. He appealed to state government necessary stop a fulfilling the peoples demand. State general secretary JSSM, Sandeep Manhas urged upon the youth to understand their responsibilities and work for boosting of communal harmony and feeling of nationalism. Another speaker Chib asked the youth to keep distance from the menace of drugs, alcohol and smoking.
Vikant Singh State Vice President JSSM demanded the construction of Small park and erect a statue of Shaheed Bhagat Singh on the park on the Shaheed Bhagat Singh Chowk in order to pay homage to S. Bhagat Singh. He also appealed to the state govt. and concerned administration to take necessary steps for fulfilling their demand.
