Srinagar| Sep 28 : Army claimed to have gunned down an unidentified militant who was trying to sneak into this side of Line of Control (LoC) in Kupwara district, late on Thursday night.
An official spokesman said that troops of 56 RR observed a movement of some persons in general area of Katwari Gali near LoC in Kupwara district, last night.
An encounter started as the troops challenged the suspects, the spokesman said adding, one unidentified militant was shot dead in the brief exchange of fire.
One AK 56 Rifle, three Magazines, 58 rounds, one GPS, four Electronic detonator, two Mobile activated circuit board , one Wire cutter, one Pouch, one Rucksack, one Poncho, one water bottle and one Cordex Cord packet, was recovered form the possession of the slain militant, whose identification was yet to be ascertained.
