JAMMU, SEPTEMBER 28 - Asserting that upgrading educational infrastructure with quality and job oriented knowledge forms the priority of coalition regime, Minister for Education, Haj and Aquaf, Science and Technology Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed maintained that the tremendous development with the latest education and adequate infrastructural facilities have been ensured in almost every corner of the state.
The Minister was speaking at a review meeting convened to take stock of varied aspects pertaining to the efficient and satisfactory functioning of Education Department besides effective implementation and monitoring of various schemes and projects executed or under execution
Deliberating upon certain issues, Sayeed was apprised about the functioning including physical and financial achievements registered during the year under SSA in Education department
Director School Education, A. K Raina informed about promotion policy of the department and shortage of staff in remote and far-flung areas. Progress points to run SSA successfully in the state were also discussed in detail. He highlighted the issue of posts of teaching staff of lectures/teachers which stands referred to Public Service Commission and Service Selection Board. He urged for directing the concerned authorities to release the selection lists of these cadre at the earlier possible as there is shortage of teaching staff in the schools.
The Minister said that the adequate staff would be provided in the rural pockets to fulfill the requirement. The Minister said that training has been provided to ReT teachers for so that they may give quality education to the students particularly in backward areas. Peerzada said that DIET has adopted number of schools and is conducting academic inspection regularly to up-grade the education status in the state. He said that vacant posts in various schools of different districts have fulfilled.
The Minister informed that under SSA various development works are under execution in education sector including construction of school buildings, up-gradation of schools to uplift the education standard in the state. He said that the government is making concerted efforts to change the education scenario at gross root level so that the student community avail maximum benefit of various centrally and state sponsored schemes.
The Minister expressed satisfaction over the performance of the department and asked the officers to work with devotion and dedication and gear the pace of development/construction works in their respective areas in shortest possible time.
The meeting was also attended by Director School Education, R.K Raina, State Project Director SSA, J.L Bhagat, Zonal Education Officers, Principals and other concerned officers of the department.
