| Rajiv Gandhi Akshay Urja Diwas concludes | | | Early Times Reporter JAMMU| SEP 28 - On the concluding day of one month long Rajiv Gandhi Akshay Urja Diwas here today. A student rally was taken out from Mubarak Mandi. More than 1000 students of Girls Higher Secondary School, Mubarak Mandi took part in the rally. Divisional Commissioner Jammu Sudhanshu Pandey flagged off the rally at 10 a.m. from Mubarak Mandi. The rally marched through various roads raising slogan for conservation of energy for bright future of the nation and concluded in the premises of Women College, Parade Jammu. The rally was organized by the J&K State Council for Science and Technology, Jammu. During the Akshay Urja Diwas celebrations, J&K Science and Technology organized a series of painting competition, essay writing, symposium in various schools in the district to mark the 63rd birth anniversary of late Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. An exhibition was also organized on “Non-conventional Energy Sources” at Government College for Women, Parade. Additional Deputy Commissioner, Jammu I. A. Zargar who was the chief guest on the occasion inaugurated the exhibition. Nine solar prizes were distributed among the students adjudged Ist, 2nd and 3rd positions in the painting, drawing and essay competitions besides cash prizes were also given to them. Corporator Gandhinagar Bansi Lal Gupta and Principal, Government Women College, Parade s. Usha Jiyee were also present at the function.
