| JDA to colonizers: Stop cheating | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu, Sept 28: The real estate boom which had recently taken Jammu by storm with the booking of plots and proposed houses in the colonies being developed by supposedly big brands have suddenly come to a dampener with the controlling agency accusing them of cheating. Casting its delayed shadow on a thriving business cumulatively running into billions of rupees, the Jammu Development Authority has minced no words in accusing these colonizers of cheating with the public. A public notice issued today by the Jammu Development Authority, besides other things have clearly said, "construction/planning of such colonies without approval of Building Operation Control Authority (BOCA) amounts to cheating with the general public which shall be challengeable in the consumer court". These colonizers with their big and life size hoarding across the city and massive advertisement campaigns had made bookings of crores of rupees on account of constructed houses and plots. Most of these colonies have been coming up towards the north of Jammu city and have been projected as satellite cities by their promoters. Immediately after the notice of the Jammu Development Authority a sudden panic bottom has been pressed among the colonizers who had made huge investments. The panic was gripped more among the consumers who had booked their plots, houses and flats in the proposed townships. In many cases, sources said, the consumers made inquiries with their colonizers about the future course of action and some pressurized them to return their money. The major colonizers who have come under the JDA scanner are: Awana Inderprasth Township, Patoli; Awana Enclave, Kongar More; Datta Coloniser, Rajpura; Awana Mega City, Mishriwala; Defence Enclave, Thatthar; Jain Developers, Karan Vihar; J&K Housing Corporation, Mishriwala; Chanab Colonisers, Purkhoo; Kuldeep Singh and Arshad Chowdhary, Thathar. Prominent businessman and politicians of Jammu are said to be the promoters of these colonies. It is learnt that one of the colonizers is a senior Congress leader against whom the Peoples Democratic Party has collected all relevant documents and circulated among senior Congress leaders in Delhi. The PDP president Mehbooba Mufti is already reported to have made a statement in the connection which appeared in a section of press here today. The JDA, in its notice, has said that while almost all colonizers have skirted the rules by bypassing the necessary permission and approval of the BOCA, in many cases the colonizers have not got the land coming under colonies demarcated. There is every apprehension of these colonies or their some parts being coming up on the Forest land and therefore they run the risk of cancellation.
