| College demands extra money for issuing roll number slips | | Police arrests protesting students | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Sept 28 In what could be described as suppressing voice of students, Bishnah police arrested six students, who were protesting against college administration. Students allegedly blamed that college administration was blackmailing them and demanding rupees ten thousand from each student for issuance of roll number slips. The college administration when contacted denied the allegation and maintained that only fine was being realized from the students. Students of Shirdee College of Education, Bishnah who are doing elementary teacher training (ETT) there informed that their examination is starting from tomorrow but college administration was not issuing them roll numbers and demanding rupees ten thousand from each student. They further alleged that despite paying full amount including fee and other college dues, the college administration was demanding extra money on the name of fine from them which is totally illegal and injustice with the students. Aggrieved over the administration’s decision the students staged a protest demonstration and raised slogan it. The administration sought police help to overcome the growing indiscipline in the institution. The reports said that police has rounded up six students namely Lakhbir Singh, Jagjeet Singh, Vijay, Alakhbeer Singh, Gurgyal Singh and Gulshan Kumar in police station for creating nuisance in the college. Following these arrests, panic gripped in college. Here is to mention that there are 160 students who are doing ETT and mostly students belong to the other states.
