| Delhi beats Himachal by 6 wkts | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Sep 29 Delhi today inflicted a six wicket defeat on Himachal Pradesh to further strengthen their position in the Vinoo Makand under-19 cricket tournament at Sher-e-Kashmir Cricket Stadium, Srinagar. Delhi dominated throughout and never allowed Himachal to make a come back in the low scoring game. Earlier, batting first after winning the toss, Himachal lost both the openers for just 10 runs to pacer, Pardeep Sangwan. However, Rishi Dhawan and Saransh Thakur steadied the Himachal innings and took the team’s score to 63 at the end of 23 overs. Rishi played valuable innings of 66 runs which guided the team’s score to reach 148 in 48 overs. For Delhi, Raul Bhardwaj took three wickets while Pradeep Sangwan and Varun Sood shared two each. Darshan Khajuria also bagged two wickets. In reply, Delhi batsmen were in an attacking mood as they thrashed Himachal new ball bowlers. Delhi openers scored 45 runs in just five overs sparing no chance for the bowlers to make a room for them. However, Himachal bowlers made a come back and took two quick wickets but by then Delhi had already reached a position from where victory was not far away. Delhi won comfortably achieving the target in 166 runs for the loss of four wickets. Yogesh contributed highest 56 runs for Delhi while Vartik Tihara and Tarun Choudhary contributed 45 and 29 runs respectively. From Himachal, Vivek Verma bagged two wickets while Rishi Dhawan and Rakesh Rana bagged two wickets each. |
