| Third straight loss for J&K in U-19 | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Sep 29 It was a third straight loss for Jammu and Kashmir that too on the home wicket when hosts were inflicted a humiliating 94 runs defeat by Punjab in the ongoing Vinoo Makand under-19 cricket tournament at Kashmir University ground today. In fact, Punjab sailed on the all-round performance by Sidharth Koul, who first scored 43 runs and then emerged as the most successful bowler with five wickets. Although the visitors were in trouble till the middle of their innings struggling at 81 for five, still they managed a competitive total of 198 runs losing all their wickets in 46.1 overs. Even as the hosts were at gain to capitalize on the low score of Punjab, but they started their innings on bad note and lost of their side for just 52 runs. Finding batsmen struggling to stay on the wicket, Punjab bowlers bowl sensibly and took wickets at regular intervals and J&K could make only 104 before all their wickets fell. Earlier, Sidharth Koul played excellent innings for Punjab keeping the one end intact with his patient batting no matter he could not find any good partner among the openers and then middle order. However, he was supported by the tale-enders who themselves batted well and took the team’s score to a respectable position. Sidharth scored highest 43 runs while Himanshu contributed 39 and Parry Goel 37.For J&K, Mudassir was most successful bowlers with four wickets. Samir Ahmed and Nitish shared two each. Later, chasing a target of near four runs per over, J&K were never in command and lost wickets on regular intervals. The whole side bowled out for 104 runs thus losing the match by 94 runs. Sameer Ahmed was top scorer with 29 runs in his account. From Punjab, Sidharth Koul took five wickets and Lakshya two. |
