Representing the district for the first time in the inter-district competitions, spikers from Ramban today defeated Poonch to qualify for the final of under-17 year group.
Organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS), the competitions are being conducted in all the three age groups of under-14, under-17 and under-19 year.
In the meantime, district Jammu and Rajouri have also made it into the final of under-14 year category. In the semi-finals, Jammu outplayed Ramban 2-1 (25-10, 21-25, 25-10) while Rajouri beat Kathua in straight sets 25-21, 25-21.
Earlier, the competitions were declared open by the Assistant Director DYSS, S S Bali at Youth Hostel Nagrota grounds.
Prominent among those present in the opening function were Chanchal Kour, Chanderkanta, Gurcharan Kour, Veena Raina, Veena Tikoo.

Under-19 year: Ramban bt Samba 25-08, 25-17; Reasi bt Kishtwar 25-13, 25-15; Doda bt Kathua 25-14, 25-22; Udhampur bt Poonch 25-15, 25-18; Ramban bt Rajouri 25-7, 25-5; Jammu bt Reasi 25-6, 25-8.
Under-17 year: Jammu bt Doda 23-13, 25-10; Rajouri bt Udhampur 25-12, 26-24; Ramban bt Kathua 25-10, 25-10. Semifinal: Ramban bt Poonch 26-24, 18-25, 25-13.
Under-14 year: Jammu bt Ramban 25-10, 21-25, 25-10; Rajouri bt Kathua 25-14, 25-21. |
